Ninoy Aquino Day

Today, Philippines is commemorating the anniversary of the 1983 assasination of former Senator Beningno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr.

I was not yet born at that time and I really don't know what really happened and what's the status of Philippines back then. I just depend on news, internet, stories etc. Many people say Ninoy was a hero of democracy. He fought for the rights of Filipino people and his assassination led to the downfall of Ferdinand Marcos.

At present, many Filipinos prefer to leave their own country for the sake of better living. Corruption and violence is very rampant, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Are Filipinos really worth dying for? For me it's still a yes! Though many Filipinos prefer to leave their own country I know it's for the sake of living. And I can see that Filipinos still love their country because many of them still want and eager to go back to their native homeland, keeping the Filipino cultures and traditions at their heart, praying for the Philippines. For the corruption, violence and other government issues, stop blaming others, stop blaming the government. If only we'll use our brains on choosing our leaders, if only we will discipline ourselves, abide the laws and be a good citizen we can have a great nation. Let's not put into waste what our heroes died for.

I still have faith on this country. I am still hoping that Philippines will be at it's greatest prosperity someday. *fingerscrossed*
